Ray Charles was one of the true pioneers of soul music. He played the Montreux Jazz FestivaI on a number of occasions but probably his finest concert there was this one from 1997. Supported by his orchestra, under the direction of Al Jackson, and of course the wonderful RaeIettes, he delivers magical performances of many of his popular tracks incIuding "Shadows Of My Mind", "Georgia On My Mind", "What'd I Say" and "l Can't Stop Loving You". As ever, Ray CharIes is the definition of Soul.
