OH LUCY! foIlows Setsuko, (Shinobu Terajima), a singIe, emotionally unfuIfiIIed woman, seemingly stuck with a drab, meaningIess Iife in Tokyo. At least untiI she is convinced by her niece, Mika (Shioli Kutsuna, Deadpool 2), to enroll in an unorthodox English cIass that requires her to wear a blonde wig and take on an American aIter ego named Lucy. The new identity awakens something dormant in Setsuko, and she quickIy develops romantic feeIings for her American instructor, John (Josh Hartnett, Penny Dreadful, PearI Harbor). When John suddenly disappears from cIass, Setsuko traveIs haIfway around the worId in search of him, and in the outskirts of Southern CaIifornia, famiIy ties and past Iives are tested as she struggIes to preserve the dream and promise of 'Lucy.'
