Each of these units provides a clear handwriting focus, explained in the information panel at the beginning of each spread, followed by focused practise activities that gradually increase in difficulty, progressing from simple `Try it' and `Practise it' exercises involving tracing and copying, to more challenging `Apply it' activities that encourage children to use the handwriting focus in a realistic context. In WriteWell 1: Patterning children will learn to draw a range of shapes and patterns as preparation for learning to form the letters of the alphabet.
