| After leaving a philandering husband in Texas, Patricia McDermont had found serenity but not happiness in the ski town of Vail, Colorado. There, she meets medical oncologist, Jason Jamison, the widowed father of twelve-year-old Brittany whose world centers on ice-skating. As the rink manager, she is impressed with Brittany's talent and helps her enter the world of competitive skating to prepare for the upcoming regional championship.

In addition, Patricia supports Jason when a hospital administrator, angry that Jason has built a freestanding clinic, threatens his medical practice. As their relationship grows, they encounter adversity and many challenges.
