VoIP stands for voice over internet protocol. This is the application of telephony via the internet. As this application comes into its own so does the new and improved internet protocol referred to as IPv6. The current protocol for the internet is IPv4. The problem with IPv4 is that it does not have nearly enough space for the growing population of cyberspace and is increasingly unsecure. IPv6 gives far more unique addresses for users and is much more secure and robust. Daniel Minoli discusses the convergence of VoIP and IPv6 as they emerge as the next generation of communication.
