Phillip Jacob Spener is credited with the beginnings of Pietism with the publishing of his book Pia Desideria. In this book, Spener addresses problems within the Lutheran Church, and offers six proposals of rectifying these problems. The intended purpose of this book is to prove that there is a correlation between Spener¿s Proposals to Correct Conditions in the Church written in his Pia Desideria, and the Affirmations of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The foundations of Pietism will be explored as well as its movement from Germany to Sweden.
