    Inhalt:
India's Solar Power Revolution India's focus on expanding renewable energy has led to a significant increase in solar power generation. Setting Ambitious Targets In 2014, India set a target to achieve 15% of its total power utilization from renewable energy sources by March 2022. This target included a distribution goal of 3% for solar power. The aim was to reach a solar power capacity of 22 Gigawatts by March 2022. In 2018, the Ministry of Power stated that India had set a new target of achieving a 21% contribution from renewable energy in its total power utilization by March 2022. Addressing Electricity Losses Over the years, India has struggled with high electricity losses during transmission and supply, reaching a peak loss of 24.7% in the year 2010-11. To address this issue, India is urgently working to reduce losses, particularly due to theft. Efficient Lighting Solutions One initiative involves obtaining LED bulbs from UJALA distribution centers or participating retailers, either through upfront payment or smaller installments, making the bulbs more accessible to lower-income customers. This program has played a crucial role in saving over 6,000 MW of energy and reducing CO2 emissions by 25 million tons annually. Brightening the Future India's ambitious plan is to replace all 770 million incandescent bulbs with LEDs by 2019. Additionally, other countries in the region are also implementing clean energy measures with support from the Bank.
