Dr. Mitola edited the landmark May 1995 special issue of the IEEE Communications Magazine and the April 1999 Journal on Selected Areas in Communications on Software Radio. He began his career with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in 1967 and is presently a consulting scientist with the MITRE Corporation, advising the DoD on telecommunications and information-processing technology and policy.
