| Two young men fall in love in 90s New York: Can they make a go of it? They come from different worlds: Fatherless Eduardo, a student, was born in Cuba, while suburban-raised Andrew is aiming for an academic career. This compelling (and partly autobiographical) story of young love follows Andrew's stumbling progress in pursuit of Eduardo as Eduardo flees a pregnant hookup and his mom's Harlem apartment to flop on his oldest friend's floor, his best friend's couch, in Andrew's bed, at the West Side Y, on a patch of Central Park ivy-and a jail cell or two. Queer's Progress races towards inevitability in a tale by turns urbane, emotional and dryly witty. |
