OFF COURSE: ROUNDABOUTS & DEVIATIONS is A. Robert Lee's newest collection that blends poetry and prose. Beneath the thoughtfully crafted and approachable exterior of Lee's writing lies a deep, intricate voice that intentionally challenges conventional literary boundaries. The collection offers unique perspectives on the peculiarities and often humorous aspects of everyday life. Infused with wit and a dark yet friendly humor, Lee's work aims to entertain while also provoking recognition. What may seem like fake correspondence could be genuine, and culinary traditions take on a gothic twist. Each piece presents a slanted, diagonal, or oblique viewpoint, with familiar phrases turned askew. Geographical references become unmoored, whether they pertain to Europe, England, Japan, or America. Ultimately, everything is OFF COURSE. The collection features captivating stories of travel and change, humor and capitalism, along with memorable narratives that illuminate both our present and our past. OFF COURSE employs irony to engage the reader's mind, reminding us of the unavoidable contradictions in life and the inherent unpredictability of existence. It is sharp, unpredictable, and insightful. Life's experiences take on the quality of a waking dream, filled with humor and absurdity. Approach OFF COURSE with an open mind, and consider having some personal insurance before diving in.
