Micro finance programmes are expected to make a significant contribution to poverty alleviation and empower the members in economic, social and political spheres. NGOs are building social capital in the form of groups that can generate a sound base for their members to develop their credibility as borrowers and encourage financial institutions to develop confidence in establishing a lending relationship with the groups.
