| Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles
available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. LiViD, short for
Linux Video and DVD, was a collection of projects that aim to create
program tools and software libraries related to DVD for Linux operating
system. In 2002, LiViD project leader Matthew Pavlovich was sued by the
DVD Copy Control Association Inc. (DVD CCA) for trade secret
misappropriation because they posted DeCSS on LiViD web site. A
programming tool or software development tool is a program or
application that software developers use to create, debug, maintain, or
otherwise support other programs and applications. The term usually
refers to relatively simple programs that can be combined together to
accomplish a task, much as one might use multiple hand tools to fix a
physical object. |
