| Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will - G B Shaw Education is one of the potent instruments for development of creativity. Gordon grounds Synectics in four ideas that challenge conventional view about creativity. Creativity is important in everyday activities. The model is designed to increase problem solving capacity, creative expression, empathy and insight into social relation. The creative process is not at all mysterious. It can be described and it is possible to train persons directly to increase their creativity. Creative invention is similar in all fields- the arts, the sciences, engineering and is characterized by the same underlying intellectual processes. Individual and group inventions are very similar. Analogies, which provide a bridge between a known concept and unfamiliar concept, are chief elements in Synectics procedures. The model aims at creating learning environments in which creativity and problem solving ability of children could be fostered. The present book is a result of this modest venture. |
