Her mother challenges her to make the most of her time by making a list of goals she would like to accomplish. Nova accepts the challenge and decides to have fun by doing random crazy things. Her mother encourages her to add goals to the list to help herself and others while considering people less fortunate than her. As a result, Nova is motivated to help others by performing acts of kindness and generosity. I Did It In 2020 seeks to inspire the readers to appreciate the positive things they accomplished during the pandemic and other challenging times. Although Nova's mother initiates the challenge and makes suggestions, it is Nova that comes up with fun ways to beat boredom and at the same time bring love and positivity to her community.
