In a world where pyromancers are sentenced to death, Sunnvia survives by hiding in plain sight. When her best friend, Bylur, discovers her magic, she flees to avoid the wrath of the Elemental Circle. An island village off the coast of Asparia, where others have begun fighting back, gives her refuge. She joins the rebellion to protect her people, even if that means fighting against the very man she's loved since childhood.

Bylur was raised to believe that fire magic is deadly, and anyone who possesses it is too dangerous to live. But then he's faced with the truth that the woman he's loved since he was a child is a pyromancer. Now, tasked with hunting down those with her magic, he must choose between loyalty to the Elemental Circle and their laws, or the woman his heart can't accept is as deadly as they claim.
