In Eyehill, a town too small to support a high school, men and women work hard to wrest a living from the dry, rolling fields. Their passion for what they hold dear -- the land, their spouses and children, their neighbours -- is tangled with yearning for something different and the dangerous allure of the oil industry.

Rhea and Jarvis, one shy, the other wild, grow up conspiring to follow their dreams elsewhere. Rhea leaves and Jarvis stays, but Eyehill ties them more closely than blood or marriage.
