A powerful exploration of Native American identity, colonization, and resilience through contemporary poetry.

Benjamín Naka-Hasebe Kingsley's debut collection delves into the heart of the Native American experience in today's America. From a Nippon refugee caged by America to an Onondaga son imprisoned by its legacy, these poems carve a path from Rust Belt trailers to West Baltimore, counting pennies while cherishing the love of poetry. Kingsley gives voice to unheard prayers and answered dreams, declaring, "We are here. I am here. I am alive. Colonize me."

Colonize Me is a testament to family, memory, and the enduring spirit of those who have been marginalized. Through vivid imagery and unflinching honesty, Kingsley invites readers to confront the complexities of identity, social justice, and the ongoing impact of colonization. A must-read for those seeking connection, understanding, and a call to action.
