Herminia A. Sison is from the Philippines and also a naturalized US citizen. She taught for twenty years as an English Professor at the University of the East, the biggest private university in her country. She retired after thirty-four years of teaching in all.Prof. Sison is a B.S.E. graduate of the University of the Philippines, her country's state university. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Literature from the well-known Ateneo de Manila University. She is more noted as a literary figure in her country for having won for six consecutive years as a playwright, the Annual Palanca Literary Award, (the equivalent of America's Pulitzer Prize). With her unsurpassed record as a winner, she was awarded the highest honor by Palanca - The Hall of Fame Award.For two years (1980-81), Herminia A. Sison received a grant from the Seattle Arts Commission and she held the title of "Artist-in-Residence" of Seattle. During her tenure, she conducted lectures and drama workshops to students and teachers alike of the city's public schools.Now in her 90's, she intends to embark on other forms of literary writing. In this book of hers, Come to Think of It, she showed her talent as an essayist and as a story-teller in her narratives. She introduced an original book format of hers of putting together, but separately, both essay and narrative in every chapter. She finds it refreshing and interesting to combine both with sprinkles of quotations from famous poems, sayings and proverbs, with short excerpts from great speeches and orations throughout history.
