| Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles
available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Baselining is a
method for analyzing computer network performance. The method is marked
by comparing current performance to a historical metric, or "baseline".
For example, if you measured the performance of a network switch over a
period of time, you could use that performance figure as a comparative
baseline if you made a configuration change to the switch. Computer
networking is the engineering discipline concerned with the
communication between computer systems or devices. A computer network is
any set of computers or devices connected to each other with the ability
to exchange data. Computer networking is sometimes considered a
sub-discipline of telecommunications, computer science, information
technology and/or computer engineering since it relies heavily upon the
theoretical and practical application of these scientific and
engineering disciplines. |
