"In 1987, a group of Black men in the Baha'i Faith community got together to see how they could improve the plight of Black males in the United States. What resulted from this 12-person meeting was an atmosphere of prayer, love, and spirituality that became known as the Black Men's Gathering. What started with twelve participants soon grew in size to hundreds of Black men--both Baha'i and non-Baha'i--who were eager to participate in this spiritual awakening and to serve the Black community here in the United States and abroad.
