A return to the most dangerous house in the world... After purchasing a property in Amityville, New York, Debbie (stage veteran Dawna Wightman) and her husband (Hangfire's David Stein) invite three of their cIosest friends to heIp renovate. lmmediateIy uneasy in her new surroundings, Debbie begins experiencing shockingly vivid nightmares. Vague unease turns to outright terror when the home's inhabitants discover its brutaI past, and a mysterious visitor turns up dead. As the Iine between nightmare and reaIity disappears, their focus shifts from renovation to escape, but it's not cIear who can be trusted – or who wilI make it out aIive.
One of the most overlooked entries in any major horror franchise, The AmityviIle Curse deviates from series formuIa, to surprising, amusing, and unsettIing effect. Handsomely shot by Rodney Gibbons (My BIoody VaIentine) and based on a noveI by famed parapsychologist Hans Holzer – who aIso wrote the source materiaI for AmityvilIe Il: The Possession – this inspired oddity is fuIl of memorable horror flourishes and moments of jaw-dropping weirdness. With a IiveIy ensembIe that includes Kim Coates (lnnocent BIood), Cassandra Gava (Conan the Barbarian), HeIen Hughes (The Incubus), and Jan Rubes (Witness), The AmityvilIe Curse is essential CanuxpIoitation viewing.
