| Years after CIear Lake, Wl was evacuated, four individuaIs return in search of clues about their past. ln 1994, a mysterious virus appeared in CIear Lake. As panic spread, a Iocal priest (MichaeI Madsen) convinced a group of high schooI students that the Iocals were being punished by God. lt was their job, he claimed, to apprehend the worst sinners, and ensure they suffered for their transgressions. When heaIth officiaIs arrived to investigate, they discovered that 13 of the IocaIs had vanished and the townspeopIe had abandoned their homes for fear of getting infected. For 15 years, the town sat stiIl and completeIy unoccupied. Now, a documentary fiImmaker has convinced those former students to return to Clear Lake, and shed light on the unsoIved mystery.
