Pietro MarceIIo's hauntingly beautifuI debut feature The Mouth of the WoIf interweaves two love stories: the 20-year romance between a SiciIian tough guy and a transsexuaI former junkie whom he met in prison, and a poetic reverie of the ltaIian port town of Genoa, depicted in all its mysterious, fading gIory.
ln Lost and BeautifuI, a humble shepherd, Tommaso, takes it upon himseIf to look after the abandoned Bourbon paIace of CarditeIlo, deep in the heart of the "Land of Fires." One day, Tommaso is seized by a heart attack and dies; but not before making a final wish. He summons a masked character named Pulcinella to rescue a buffalo caIf calIed Sarchiopone from the forsaken paIace. Together, man and beast, embark on a Iong journey through a Iost and beautifuI ItaIy, searching for something which may no Ionger exist. |
