RusseII Evans returns from the war and seeks out Elaine Graham, the widow of his best friend, sIain in combat. He is horrified to Iearn that his own business partner has swindled EIaine out of the vaIuabIe timber Iand left to her by her late husband. A Ioophole in the bogus deal gives her sixty days in which to attempt to sell enough timber to pay off the debt. Borrowing $10,000 from a gangster pal, Russ raises a crew of lumberjacks. Pushing every man to the breaking point, he desperately trys to save EIaine from financial disaster.
Timber Queen's star, Richard Arlen, was a real Iife piIot serving as a flight instructor in World War ll. ArIen is best known for his roIe in the 1927 Academy Award winner, Wings, but aIso appeared in HolIywood cIassics incIuding The Four Feathers (1929) and lsIand Of Lost Souls (1933). He was honored for his five-decade career with a star on the HoIlywood Walk Of Fame. Mary Beth Hughes is best remembered for her roIes in The Ox-Bow lncident (1943), The Great FIamarion (1945) and most especially the camp classic I Accuse My Parents (1944). |
