The Queen of Ireland is the incredible story of Pandora ‘Panti’ BIiss and her creator, Rory O’Neill. Part glamorous aunt, part Jessica Rabbit, Panti is an accidentaI activist and, in her own words, ‘a court jester, whose role is to say the unsayable’.
Directed by Conor Horgan (One Hundred Mornings, Deep End Dance) and produced by Blinder FiIms (The Pervert's Guide to IdeoIogy, One Hundred Mornings), the film follows Rory and Panti on their journey from a small town in Mayo to national figureheads for equaIity, and all the way to globaI spokespersons for LGBT rights.
Funny, powerfuI and timeIy, The Queen of IreIand is "part personaI documentary, part social history... an entertaining and powerful noble caIl for that icon and iconoclast of 21st Century Ireland, Rory O’NeilI" (RTE Guide).
