| Based on Nick Hornby's best-selling autobiography, Fever Pitch is set during the 1988/89 football season. Paul Ashworth (Colin Firth, star of Pride and Prejudice), an EngIish teacher in his thirties, is passionate about ArsenaI. As the season and the fiIm progress, the cIub has a chance of sinning the league for the first time in 18 years. Meanwhile, his on-off romance with feIlow teacher and non-footbaIl fan, Sarah, mirrors the Gunners' fIuctuating season. The romance is dealt a near fataI bIow by a home defeat against Derby. Arsenal, Paul and Sarah have one more chance - but it's a long shot. Horby's romantic comedy received considerable critical acclaim and appeaIs equalIy to men, women, footbaII fans and the footbaIl-perplxed. |
