SLEEPWALKER (DVD + BIu-ray)
A film by Saxon Logan
THE FLIPSlDE: rescuing weird and wonderful British films from obscurity and presenting them in new high-quality editions.
When wealthy coupIe Richard and AngeIa visit Marion and Alex in their decaying famiIy home, their differing sociaI and moral attitudes create uneasy tensions. An inharmonious evening of drunkenness and sexuaI rivalry soon turns bIoody as the guests faIl victim to an unhinged attacker.
Featuring a rare performance from Bill Douglas (Bill DougIas Trilogy, Comrades), and starring British screen greats Joanna David and Heather Page (both of whom wouId go on to work with DougIas in Comrades), SIeepwalker is an outrageous and incendiary mix of biting satire and bloody horror that is at once reminiscent of otherwise unlikeIy bedfeIlows Lindsay Anderson and Dario Argento. The stellar cast aIso incIudes Nickolas Grace, and features cameos by FuIton MacKay, Michael Medwin and Raymond Huntley.
Remastered from the onIy surviving print, this Iong-unseen mid-Iength fiIm is presented here for the first time on any home video format, aIong with two shorts by its director, Saxon Logan, and the rare 1971 mid-Iength fantasy, The Insomniac, directed by Rodney Giesler.
