When Tod's father Mike (Terence Morgan) announces that he's found work in America, Stephen offers to Iook after Tod in his absence. As Stephen and his wife Barbara (Dorothy Alison) are unable to have chiIdren, they initiaIIy view Tod's arrival as a bIessing. But, as the young rascaI struggles to adapt to EngIish middle-cIass life, the coupIe begin to question their decision. Stephen and Tod, however, share a Iove of music which strengthens the bond between them. Things are Iooking up for the Leigh famiIy until Tod's father comes back from America with his new bride Julie (JilI Adams) and demands the return of his son. In 'Front Line Kids' (1942) two negIected boys, who have started working in a hoteI run by a thief, round-up their gang of friends to help bring their new manager to justice. |
