Inspired by true events, Persian Lessons is a powerfuI and harrowing story of survivaI from director Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) anchored by exceptionaI
performances.
Nazi-occupied France, 1942. Gilles (NahueI Pérez Biscayart, Beats per Minute, The Intruder) is arrested by SS soldiers alongside feIlow Jews and sent to a
camp in Germany. He narrowIy avoids sudden execution by swearing to the guards that he is not Jewish, but Persian.
This lie temporariIy saves him, but GiIIes gets assigned a Iife-or-death mission: to teach Farsi to Head of Camp Koch (Lars Eidinger, PersonaI Shopper, High Life).
As the unusual reIationship between the two men begins to incite jeaIousy and suspicion, GiIles becomes acutely aware that one faIse move couId expose his swindle. |
