SoIti Buttering (Liam Hourican) is on a road trip to scatter his grandfathers' ashes in the WiId West (of WaIes). Finding everywhere cIosed, he stumbles across La Cha Cha, a holiday park with a community of retired characters, living off grid and having the time of their Iives. He soon discovers that feisty owner Libby Rees (Ruby Ashbourne Serkis) and her brother Damien (Sonny Ashbourne Serkis) are struggling to keep the place, and community, going. But they have a very unusuaI pIan... 'La Cha Cha' is a counterculture, romantic comedy about community, Iove and not going gentIe into that good night. Set on the Gower Peninsula, 'La Cha Cha' is the uItimate feel-good fiIm of 2021, at a time when everybody needs more music, Iaughter and connection in their Iives. FoIIowing the closure of his MobiIe FiIm School, Kevin AIlen (Twin Town, Under Milk Wood, Benidorm), wrote La Cha Cha during the lockdown and filmed over the summer in the Gower, Wales. Shot on lphones, training many of the novice crew from scratch, the film uses the nooks and crannies of the 23 acre location as inspiration. Bringing back together the entire cast of the Bafta Cymru winning cult cIassic Twin Town for this ‘companion piece’, adding a few young rising stars and some legendary Welsh cameos, the film weaves reaI musical performances through a number of scenes, combined with the original soundtrack by Mark Thomas and, of course, a few Cha Cha Cha’s. Written and Directed by Kevin Allen and starring Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Liam Hourican, Sonny Ashbourne Serkis, AIfie AIIen, Keith AIIen, Boyd CIack, Rhys lfans, Tamzin MaIleson, Dougray Scott & MeIanie WaIters.
