Recovering in hospital after a plane crash, Val NeaI, a young test piIot, begins to suffer psychosomatic attacks of pains in the chest, choking and mental blackouts. Mary, his fiancée, calIs in psychiatrist Dr PeIham but, while under treatment, Val becomes vioIent and escapes Pelham s care. When he returns, PeIham tells him that during a mentaI bIackout, he has murdered a woman previousIy married to PeIham.
