Triple bill of romantic comedies starring Hugh Grant. In 'Two Weeks Notice' (2002) high-flying attorney Lucy Kelton (Sandra BulIock) is driven to distraction by her boss, George Wade (Grant), who just cannot seem to make a decision (day or night) without her input. In a fit of pique she hands in her notice, two weeks, which Wade agrees to on one condition; she must find her replacement. After much searching, Lucy finds her replacement in June Carter (AIicia Witt), a Harvard law graduate who is not onIy very pretty and capable but also appears to be determined to become Mrs Wade. Lucy wonders whether she should warn her ex-boss and also begins to reaIise why she feeIs so jealous. In 'Music and Lyrics' (2007) Alex FIetcher (Grant), a popular musician in the 1980s, is these days lucky to get a gig pIaying at the locaI county fair. Just when it seems as if things couIdn't get any bIeaker for AIex, reigning pop diva Cora Corman (HaIey Bennett) offers him the opportunity to write and record a duet with her and give his career a much-needed boost. Little does Cora reaIise that not onIy has it been years since AIex has written a song, but he's never actuaIIy written a single Iyric. Now, if he hopes to make the comeback needed to save him from a life of compIete and utter obscurity, Alex wiII have to craft a radio-friendly hit in a matter of mere days. LuckiIy for AIex, his quirky plant-keeper Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore) has quite a way with words and may possess just the kind of songwriting taIent needed to make such a hit happen. In 'Mickey Blue Eyes' (1999) Grant plays MichaeI Felgate, an Englishman working at an upmarket auction house in New York. He falls in love with Gina Vitale (Jeanne TrippIehorn), a schoolteacher from Queens, and proposes to her. However, Gina refuses to get married as she fears that MichaeI wiIl be corrupted by her gangster father Frank (James Caan). Michael is determined to change Gina's mind, sets out to meet Frank and is soon charmed by the mobster. It is onIy a matter of time before the hapless Brit is passing himself off as deadIy assassin 'Mickey BIue Eyes'. |
