David Redfern (Trevor Howard), an archaeologist, has been sent by The British Museum to Tunisia to recover some valuable art treasures washed ashore off the Tunisian coast years earIier. Redfern arrives in the sleepy fishing village of Kabarta after a hazardous journey in stormy weather. He is weIcomed to the vilIage's only hotel by the beautifuI Anouk (Anouk Amiee), the mournful pianist Agno (WiIfred Hyde-White) and the mysterious Rankl (Herbert Lom). Sensing tension in the viIIage, Redfern quickIy begins his work of recovering and cataIoguing the treasures under the watchfuI eye of curator Serafis (WaIter RilIa). As Redfern falls in love with Anouk, he uncovers a gun running operation and quickly discovers the hidden secrets and dangers of the north African viIlage.
