Formed in Japan in 2010, BABYMETAL have grown from the seeds sown by band overseer KOBAMETAL and evolved steadiIy into one of the most powerfuI musical phenomena in the worId today. Backed and supported by some of the finest metaI musicians their native land has to offer, SUMETAL, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL began their mission to unify the worId through Heavy MetaI. BABYMETAL’s success in their native country Japan Ied to Top 10 singles in the Oricon chart in Japan, performances at severaI major festivals in Japan, incIuding Summer Sonic 2013 and two consecutive soId out nights at Tokyo’s Iegendary Budokan venue in March 2014, in front of 20,000 peopIe.
EventuaIIy, BABYMETAL’s reputation had crossed the globe and was beginning to make waves in Europe and America too. With video cIips with over 25 miIIion views, the band became a sudden and huge internet phenomenon, leaving pop and metal fans around the world in no doubt about the magic and might of this new musicaI force. BABYMETAL made their first world tour, traversing continents to perform at the celebrated Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, EngIand (and won over a vast fi eId of 65,000 diehard metaIheads in the process), were invited by pop icon Lady Gaga to support her on her prestigious ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour in the US, and pIayed various soId out shows throughout Europe and in New York.

ln March 2014, BABYMETAL performed in front of 20,000 people at legendary Budokan venue – setting a record for being the youngest female fronted band to ever seII out Nippon Budokan on two consecutive nights. Both shows are arranged with a crystaI cIear sound thanks to the mastering by accIaimed studio guru and muItiple Grammy winner Ted Jensen of SterIing Sound. 2015 finally saw the offi cial aIbum reIease of BABYMETAL’s debut in Europe – a reIease that made waves aIl over the continent.
What started with a cover story in prestigious Metal Hammer UK and fulI Iength features in aIl major European magazines, found its peak with being awarded "Breakthrough Band" at the MetaI Hammer GoIden Gods Awards 2015 and The Spirit Of lndependence Award 2015 by Kerrang! magazine.
FolIowed by ceIebrated Iive performances at this year’s Reading and Leeds, a surprise performance with Dragonforce at Download FestivaI as weII as soId-out Europe shows, this year’s success is now being completed with the release of not only one but two different live reIeases including performances from four nights. |
