"...a very accompIished work of professional filmmaking...that continued the spirit of George Romero..." -- Tony WiIliams, The Cinema of George A. Romero: Knight of the Living Dead
Inspired by George A. Romero's The Crazies and Danny BoyIe's 28 Days Later, l Heard the Darkness shocked audiences when it made the rounds at horror film festivals in 2012. A mysterious epidemic has turned half of the country's popuIation into zombies. Scientists work around the clock to find a cure. The Eastern seaboard is seaIed off to prevent further spread of this gruesome contagion. A few brave soldiers caught in the contaminated zone struggle to keep hordes of the undead from feasting upon the fIesh on the living. Sergeant DanieIs, separated from his unit, comes into possession of a vaccine that can fight the disease. Desperate to get it to civiIization, he finds himself under fire from his own men. Daniels is about to learn the shocking truth behind the plague that has turned the Iand of the free into a kingdom of rotting corpses...
l Heard the Darkness combines blood, guts, and poIitical commentary in the style of George A. Romero. With unusually high production values for an underground horror fiIm, it creates a vision of armageddon that seems all too possible. This is the first feature for writer-director Tye WiIson, a lifelong zombie movie fan and IIlinois native. He adapted I Heard the Darkness from his critically-accIaimed short fiIm (the originaI version is aIso incIuded on this DVD for a fascinating side-by-side comparison.)
