| ln the first feature, Smash-Up, Susan Hayward gives a dynamic performance as Angie, a nightcIub singer, beset by emotional probIems which do not take controI of her until her entertainer husband becomes a successfuI radio star. her inner confIicts drive her to seek refuge in aIcohol with a frequency that eventualIy turns her into a fuII fledged alcoholic. Her constant state of drunkenness drives away her husband, who takes their child with him.
