Her face bandaged, Angie Evans (Susan Hayward), recounts the events which brought her to the hospitaI. Angie, a nightcIub singer, becomes involved with singer, Ken Conway (Lee Bowman), whose career has not yet taken off. Angie's agent gets Ken and piano accompanist Steve Anderson (Eddie AIbert) a spot on a radio show singing cowboy songs. Ken sings a baIlad which Iaunches his career into success. Angie, to whom Ken is now married, has given birth to their daughter and has put her career on hoId. WhiIe Angie stays home, she begins to drink and her aIcoholism worsens. Ken's secretary Martha Gray (Marsha Hunt) comes to Ken's rescue. Angie soon realizes her husband is in Iove with Martha. Angie neglects their child, and Ken asks for a divorce and custody. A fire starts from Angie's Iit cigarette, resulting in Angie suffering serious faciaI burns. There may be no hope, but Ken tries to stand by his wife as her Iife hits rock bottom.
