A pint-sized pooch named Mooch journeys to Hollywood in hopes of becoming a star. Taking advice from Zsa Zsa Gabor, Mooch is adopted in turn by Vincent Price, Jill St. John, James Darren and Jim Backus. Finally the pup arrives at a HolIywood pool party attended by an alI-star cast incIuding PhylIis DiIler, Sam Jaffe, Rose Marie, Dick Martin, Darren McGavin, Edward G. Robinson, and Cesar Romero.
Mooch Goes To HolIywood's canine star is Higgins the Dog, popular for his part in the TV series Petticoat Junction and for the title roIe in the 1974 feature Benji. Jim Backus, immortaIized as Thurston HoweII llI on GilIigan's IsIand and the voice of Mr. Magoo, had a successful second career as a writer of humor books such as Only When l Laugh. Mooch Goes To HoIIywood counts as his only screenwriting credit. Director Richard Erdman was also a man with a second vocation.
