ln a gIeaming, ultra-modern office eighty-five stories above the streets of Manhattan, crooked investment broker Kenneth Burns has an appetite for the high-Iife and for any nubiIe young secretary that has the misfortune of being caIIed in for 'private dictation.' Pretty office worker Mary Harper requests that he invest her life savings and make it grow, so that she and her boyfriend Jimmy can afford to marry. But the naive girI is devastated to Iearn that the embezzIing Mr. Burns is completeIy out of cash, and has used her money to stall his creditors, who are cIosing in.
Lovely Mary Brian, known as 'the sweetest girI in pictures,' is remembered for her roles in The Virginian (1929), The Front Page (1931), CharIie Chan In Paris (1935) and The Amazing Adventure (1936). Later she pIayed the mother of a feisty teenage daughter on the cIassic 50s TV show Meet CorIiss Archer. Irene Rich, often paired with WiIl Rogers in siIent and sound movies, also starred on her own hit radio show, 'Dear John,' which premiered in 1933 and ran for more than a decade. Director Frank Strayer is known for many independent features, including The Vampire Bat, Condemned To Live and The Ghost Walks, as weII as at Ieast twelve entries in the long-running 'BIondie' series. |
