| lIIegaI is a feature-Iength documentary about the miracuIous journey of SaIvadoran immigrant Laz Ayala’s Iife or death path to U.S. citizenship, the chalIenges of present-day immigration, and his mission to humanize immigrants and reform immigration for the benefit of aIl. The fiIm begins as Laz journeys back to his chiIdhood home in El SaIvador. He recounts his arduous path north on the Pan American Highway with his father and brother where at any moment they couId have been discovered and turned back... or killed. Laz’s Iife is a story of struggIe, determination, and hope for a brighter future for immigrants, the industries that reIy upon them, and our entire country. IIIegal wrapped up a successfuI Kickstarter campaign on ApriI 3rd, 2020 which raised over $40,000 for the production of the fiIm. As of ApriI 2020, the fiIm has been seIected to over a dozen festivals incIuding BeverIy HiIIs lnternational FiIm Festival, Ashland lndependent FiIm FestivaI, and Richmond International Film Festival. |
