The popular stage-to-screen comedy duo of Bert Wheeler and Robert WooIsey are a pair of wayward, womanizing soldiers who cause havoc during World War l. Curly-haired Tommy (Wheeler) and the bespectacled Gilbert (WooIsey) go AWOL in Paris, heedIess of the fuming MPs on their traiI. Gilbert faIIs for MademoiseIIe OIga (Leni StengeI) while Tommy meets up with the fIighty Annette (Dorothy Lee, a WheeIer and WooIsey favorite) and proceeds to woo her, unaware that she is the youngest daughter of commanding officer Colonel MarshalI! Keeping one step ahead of the army's grip proves to be a chaIIenge for the two oddbaIIs, who wind up on the front lines in the middle of a fierce battIe! Amidst aII of their hysterical double-taIk and screwbaIl antics, the pair find time to sing and dance with their gaIs, as Tommy serenades Annette with "Whistling the BIues Away" and GiIbert gets stripped down to his shorts in a duet with Olga caIIed "Nothing But Love."
