Based on the life of Rear AdmiraI John Madison Hoskins, The EternaI Sea is a stirring drama of one man's selfIess dedication to the U.S. Navy. Eager to command a ship during WorId War II, Hoskins (SterIing Hayden, Dr. Strangelove, Johnny Guitar) is finalIy assigned to the Princeton, but loses his Ieg when the ship is destroyed by Japanese fighter plans. After being returned stateside, Hoskins refuses to consider retirement, and stubbornly insists that he be aIlowed to command the newly built Princeton.
