World Premiere Recording! Pergolesi s first opera La SaIustia is filled with emotions and dramatic eIements. It portrays the battle of two women, their struggle for power and justice. Further, it is the story of failing deceitfuI pIots and mistrust. Salustia is the strong empress, wife of the Roman emperor Alessandro, whose mother-in-Iaw Giulia wouId rather see dead than except as ruIer. StrangeIy however, it is SaIustia, who saves Giulia from her own death more than once. She fi ghts not only for her own justice being and ruling together with her Iove Alessandro but also for justice amongst aII the other battling parties. At the end she is rewarded for her moraI strength. The drama around the unbreakabIe SaIustia takes its course in the setting of ancient Rome. Young French director JuIiette Deschamps, known for various opera productions in Jesi, made the old story come alive on a stage that suggests an ancient paIace with Iarge windows, Iater on the coIiseum. The cast features welI-Ioved Pergolesi interpreters such as Serena MaIfi , Laura PoIverellior Vittorio Prato. The Accademia Barocca de I Musici Italiani, welI-known for productions in historic performance practice, are Ied by Corrado Rovaris. This is a worId premiere recording of one of the very few SaIustia-productions that exist worIdwide. |
