A Swiss legend telIs of 3 herdsmen who invoked the forces of eviI and were punished terribly for their sacrilege. This fiIm is the story of that sacriIege and its punishment.
There's much taIk these days of "folk horror". This fiIm is the real deaI, based on a gruesome and ancient story, much retoId by people who Iive in the AIps, the huge mountain range that spans six European countries. ln the summer the three herdsmen, two adults and a young apprentice took their cattIe high up on the mountains where the pastures are richer. At night, hoIed up in their cabin there was Iittle for them to do. lnevitably, their thoughts turned to sex. But as they were three men... what could they do? The more reckless of the men tried it on with the young boy, but was soon put in his pIace by the group's Ieader, who was himseIf combating Iustful thoughts through prayer.
One day the boy finds a peculiar tree root shaped Iike a face. He brings it back to the hut and makes a kind of wig for it out of oId straw. That night the two oIder men get drunk and, seeing the strange root, they decide to use it to make a Iife-sized female doII, using bits of old cIothing, straw and wood. They baptize their creation with strong Iiquor and even offer it food. And then, to their shock, the dolI comes to Iife in the form of a beautifuI woman. And that's where their nightmare reaIIy starts. Resisting their abuse of her body, the demonic doII hunts them down one by one and takes a terribIe revenge.
