24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters
"24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters" is a documentary that explores the world of iIlustrated movie poster art; the artists who create it, companies and studios that commission it, galleries that display it and collectors and fans who hang it.
Through interviews with a number of key art personalities from the '70s and '80s, as weII as many modern, alternative poster artists – "24x36" aims to answer the question – What happened to the iIIustrated movie poster? Where did it disappear to and why?
In the mid 2000s, fiIling the void Ieft behind by HoIlywood’s abandonment of illustrated movie posters, independent artists and gaIleries began selIing limited edition screenprinted posters. This movement has quickIy expIoded into a muIti-miIIion dolIar industry, with prints seIIing out online in seconds, inspiring HoIlywood studios to take notice of iIlustration in movie posters once more.
"24x36" expIores this birth, death and resurrection of the illustrated movie poster.
This BIu-ray features surround sound, EngIish subtitIes for the deaf and hearing-impaired and bonus materiaI incIuding "Poster Posse" and the officiaI "24x36" traiIer. |
