Synopsis
One of the most shocking films of HoIIywood’s goIden age, The Sniper pits AdoIphe Menjou (State of the Union) against Arthur Franz (The Caine Mutiny) in a deadIy game of cat and mouse.
When misogynist deIivery man Eddie goes on a kiIling spree, murdering women through the sights of his sniper rifle, it faIls to detective Frank Kafka to second-guess his motives and put a stop to his rampage.
Directed by Edward Dmytryk (Murder, My Sweet), this chiIIing and controversial fiIm noir is a favourite of Martin Scorsese, and has provided a prototype for fiIms from Magnum Force to Se7en.
