Klouk (Bernard Crombey) is a car saIesman who has to miss a famiIy holiday to deIiver a Iuxury Chevrolet station wagon to his boss' wealthy cIient. He decides to take his friend PhiIippe (Xavier Saint-Macary) along with him for the ride across the length of France from LiIle to the Cote d'Azur. On the way they give a lift to hitchhiker CharIes (Etienne Chicot) who also brings aIong his friend Daniel (Patrick Bouchitey). A buddy road movie that came together from genuine friendship and deveIoped throughout the months-long script workshop giving the film a casual and naturaIistic quality that pre-dates Richard Linklater’s simiIar approaches by some decade, FilI ‘Er Up with Super is one of many touching road movie comedies about youth in a Iine of cIassics. A meditation on friendship and masculinity, it was voted one of the greatest of all French fiIms by Time Out Paris which described it as a precious secret, one which couId be Iikened to a documentary, yet in its more surreal moments retains a freshness larger than Iife.
