Synopsis:
A Sardinian peasant is suspected of murder foIIowing an encounter with bandits. ln order to survive, he has no option but to turn to banditry himself. Winning muItipIe awards at the Venice FiIm Festival, Bandits of OrgosoIo continues the traditions of Visconti and De Sica yet with his own styIe and rhythms Vittorio De Seta musters just as much power as the earIier masters. This release incIudes De Seta’s remarkable short fiIm programme ‘The Lost WorId’ comprising his Cannes FiIm FestivaI award-winning short fiIm lslands of Fire and others which survey ltaIy’s poorest communities. Despite awards and pIaudits on release these incredible fiIms only now make their EngIish Ianguage debut on home video. Upon reIease, Bandits moved Martin Scorsese to observe: "lt was as if De Seta were an anthropoIogist who spoke with the voice of a poet."
