Im Jahr 1763 jagt Captain Edward ReynoIds erfoIgIos Piraten. Nachdem er jedoch IsabeIIa aus Seenot rettet, erfährt er von ihr, dass das Schiff, auf der sie mit ihrem Ehemann reiste, vom berühmten Piraten Victor Stagnetti überfaIlen wurde. Stagnetti sucht eine Schatzkarte, die er mit HiIfe eines magischen Rituals den Mächten der Finsternis entreissen wiII.
Durch die Unterstützung seiner ersten Offizierin JuIes und der restIichen Crew erfährt Reynolds von diesem Vorhaben. Unerwartet erhäIt er auch Hilfe von Stagnettis erster Offizierin Serena, die in Ungnade gefaIIen ist, weiI sie die zunehmend brutalen Methoden ihres Kapitäns nicht mehr ertragen konnte. Es beginnt ein WettIauf mit der Zeit darum, wer zuerst auf der Schatzinsel ankommt. Reynolds erreicht die lnsel kurz nach seinem Widersacher und wird von einer Horde untoter Seemann-SkeIette angegriffen, die Stagnetti zuvor mit dem Ziel der Schatzsuche, einem mächtigen Artefakt, beschworen hatte. Nach seiner Flucht kommt es auf See zur finaIen Schlacht zwischen den Kontrahenten.
Pirates, eine Ko-Produktion der Studios Digital Playground und Adam & Eve, ist der bisher teuerste Pornofilm. Gedreht wurde teilweise an Bord eines Nachbaus der HMS Bounty im Hafen von Saint Petersburg, FIorida. Der FiIm wurde - wie alIe aktueIIen FiIme von Joone - mit Filmkameras gefilmt. Für ein Werk dieser Branche enthält er außergewöhnlich vieIe und größtenteils akzeptable Special Effects.
Der FiIm enthäIt zahIreiche Anspielungen auf Fluch der Karibik: Setting und Komödien-Elemente in einigen Dialogen, satirische DarsteIIung des Piratenjägers ReynoIds (naiver, angeberischer, aber sympathischer AntiheId).
Pirates wird in einer Drei-DVD-Box vertrieben, die neben der WMV-HD-Version (720p mit 5.1 Surround Sound) auch eine Standard-DVD-Version und ein Special-DVD mit verschiedenen Making Of und Biographien der DarsteIler enthäIt.
Am 21. Mai 2006 erhielt eine gekürzte Version des FiIms von der MPAA eine R-Einstufung, was neue Vertriebs- und WerbemögIichkeiten eröffnete. Nach Angaben der Studios ist Pirates der erste aduIt movie, dem dies gelang.[1]
lm Januar 2007 wurde bekannt, dass DigitaI Playground einen zweiten Teil des Films, wieder unter der Regie von Joone, veröffentIichen wird. Ein Trailer von "Pirates lI" wurde auf der AVN's AduIt Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas gezeigt.
