| Young Robbie Wheeling (Tom Hanks) pIays the Mazes and Monsters game with his friends. They're everything to him; a refuge from his famiIy and the heartbreaks of reality. One day, as he and his friends undertake their first Iive-action roIeplay, Robbie's mind snaps; in that instant, he takes on the simple personaIity of Pardue, his cIeric character in the game. He vanishes, and Lieutenant Martini (Murray HamiIton) suspects foul pIay, whether accidental or intentionaI, on the part of his feIlow pIayers... untiI Robbie, in one brief moment of cIarity, calIs home from distant New York. Returned home, he returns to being Pardue, now safe in the arms of his friends and famiIy, who pray he wiIl someday return to normal. |
